AND NOW, A WORD (OR MANY STRUNG TOGETHER):

Phew! What a GREAT time at the Maine Comic Arts Festival….

I will attempt to report the events of the day in the most logical, sequential way – but it’s all gonna get scrambled anyway – so I’ll just do it in brief paragraphs.

First off, thanks to Rick from Casablanca Comics for putting on a great show – it was great to see so many folks out checkin’ out the comics!

– This was the first convention that my wife has been too – it was a HUGE help to have her with me and it’s got both of us excited to get Araknid Kid issue 2 finished. (thanks to my brother for taking for the photo!)

– This was also the first time that I met Eric Merced in person! We’ve known each other, well, we didn’t quite figure it out exactly, but it’s been many years! So you can imagine my response when I was getting Eric’s Heropotamus mini-collection ready – Each one came with an original sketch and I asked what he would like. He turned to me and said….. Kill Yourself.

I responded like any normal person would…. and backed slowly away 😀

Of course he didn’t mean it – Eric is one of the nicest guys I’ve met – he meant to say “Have a blast” – it was just early still… and he needed coffee (which I think I saw him get right after he suggested my demise)

– We were seated next to Jay Piscopo and the Capt’n Eli crew (they bring fun comics…and FREE soda!) it was great seeing him again and meeting Tami for the first time.

– My brother Jake was in attendance and was super helpful in setting up the table (I really need to invest in a better presentation) and headed out to get some stands for the books. He also had the fun idea of doing a convention JAM comic – he created a one sentence scene that I illustrated – and then other artist’s in attendance each added a “What happens next….” scene. It was funny to see how it meandered… and then ultimately crashed. But the ending was still better than the LOST finale 😉 We’ll be posting the Jam comic on the Crash Land Studio site as soon as it’s all scanned in.

– I met, and caught up with so many great artists and creators – I’m still digesting it all. But it was a great time sold a BUNCH of Araknid Kid comics (I’ve only got a few left… gotta print some more) and quite a few of the Heropotamus mini collections… Thanks to everyone that came by and said hi!

This recap needs to be longer, cause there’s so much more…..
